I will look in the manual and see what else might be causing our issue, should the above not resolve it.Thanks for that about the battery disconnect. That rules it out as i have no power, just a giant paper weight. Then, you can connect your trickle charger to the posts under the bonnet and see if you get anything. And make sure they are clean from any corrosion or debris, apply a tad of dielectric grease, and make certain they are tight. Obviously, make certain that the terminals are on the correct post (+) to (+), (-) to (-), but it sounds like you have that right. I assume you are getting absolutely nothing, correct me if I am wrong. interior lights, MMI, parking brake, etc. Other electronics would continue to function with this disconnect fired eg. I have to suspect the airbag system as that was the last thing done to the A6 by the dealer, but again it did start and drive home on the old battery so my be i am reaching on that one to blame the dealer.Īs far as the disconnect attached to the positive cable is concerned, this only disconnects the engine compartment electronics and the fuel pump. And i did hook up pos side first and neg last.

One other thing I noticed is when i hooked up the battery the second time after fully charging it ,i got spark at the negative terminal upon hook up, which did not happen the first time when i brought it home and hooked it up. I did attach the genius 1.1 amp trickle charger to the battery while it was hooked up to the vehicle yesterday for a few minutes, BUT the manual says 14.8 amps or more will cause damage.I cannot imagine 1.1 amps would do much. But my bad about not knowing it had remote charging posts in the engine compartment! And again before that i was only charging the battery directly and not installed. I wouldn't know how to fix this I'm afraid, but hopefully someone else can help you with that. Thanks for your reply, that cannot be what is going on. The terminals to connect a battery charger to are under the hood, at the back of the engine bay on the passenger's side. Hi, have you been connecting your battery charger at the battery terminals while the battery is in the car? If so, maybe you have damaged the power control circuit, which only ever expects to see a battery's voltage, not the higher voltage a charger provides. ?And yes the battery is fully charged with a genius solid state charger maintaining it.showing green, but when i hook the battery up to the car battery cables and put the genius charger on the leads it then shows an orange light. Could this be what is cutting power from the battery.

I read after the fact that their is a fuse in the +battery cable that can fire due to an air bag event. When i came home with new battery and installed it I got nothing, no lights or any power car is dead. I did not know to put a charger on the battery cables to maintain power while returning battery. I declined and went home to find paperwork on battery and called audi parts saying what credit would i receive on a battery swap out over the counter. they said battery needs to be replaced quoted $435. Took her into dealer for airbag recall last week. Low battery charge started a few weeks ago. I have a 2010 A6 prestige model which also has the sport package.
